The Best Way to Learn Italian

by Maggy Brown

About the Author

From the high fashion runways of Milan to the fast-paced world of commercial film production, Maggy Brown, a simple Arizona girl and art student with big dreams, would go on to work with some of the most powerful people in the film world. In her twenty-eight-year career in Europe, Maggy mastered the language di amore as well as Italian cooking, and she learned to speak a little Italian along the way.

Maggy has produced award-winning commercials for premier international clients Swatch, Lancia Thema, Colmar, Nivea, Dannon and countless others. She’s produced with world-famous film directors and directors of photography including Steven Poster, Gordon Willis, Syd Macartney, Nick Lewin, and Dante Spinotti, all ASC.

In her memoir, The Best Way to Learn Italian, Maggy recounts her days as a model, commercial producer, and would-be Marchesa Margaret Lanzi del Cazzolo.

Today, Maggy lives in the historic village of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with her Jack Russell Terrier
, Betty and a rescue Pitt Bull, Thor. Although it’s a quieter life than the glamour days in Milan, she stays more than busy with her pet collages, writing children's books, interior decorating, and cooking Italian recipes from her repertoire.
